Constructing a digital library & building an archives library for the preservation of ancient Hela palm-leaf manuscripts and Tipitaka

    [bwsgooglecaptcha bwsgooglecaptcha-894]

Ariyakammattana will digitalize Sri Lanka’s palm-leaf manuscripts and earliest versions of the Tipitaka that are currently stored in European museums and libraries, and temples in Sri Lanka. Currently, the process of obtaining digital copies of the Tipitaka and manuscripts have already commenced from Europe and British libraries, as a result of a settlement from a lawsuit against the UK government.

After this on-line library and archives are created, the digital copies of the Tipitaka and manuscripts will be re-written on new palm leaves. Once the archives are in a digital and hard-copy format, they will all be available for free access to the general public.

Support is required to construct this building to house the newly re-written palm-leaf Tipitaka and manuscripts, as well as to purchase and install computers and related technology to access the digital copies.

If you wish to support this initiative to give the public free world-wide access to this knowledge repository, please donate with a compassionate mind. May the merits that you acquire for this kusala action result in progress of knowledge and wisdom on your path to Nibbāna.
